What your chat partner sees
In an anonymous chat on LiefdesKlik the other person sees no name, no e-mail address and no profile: only the messages you send. In a video chat you see each other, so choose what's in view. What you share is entirely up to you.
What the site does know
To prevent abuse, a chat site has to keep a few things: a technical account (guests too), messages for moderation and reports. A good site tells you honestly what is stored and for how long. LiefdesKlik deletes chat messages after 30 days.
Protecting your own privacy
Most privacy is lost through what you share yourself. A few habits help:
- Don't use your full name or a username you use elsewhere.
- Don't mention your employer, school or exact town.
- On video, check what's visible behind you.
- Don't share photos where your location is recognisable.
- Don't move to other apps where your number becomes visible.
And photos?
Photos you take with your phone can contain hidden data, such as where the photo was taken. LiefdesKlik removes that data from every photo you upload, but other sites and apps don't always do so.
Seeing your data
Under the GDPR you have the right to see what a site stores about you. With a LiefdesKlik account you download it with one button in your settings, and you can delete your account and data yourself too.
